We had friends visiting and decided to try a different restaurant, The
Splash Inn in West End, so we could also be in town for the fireworks, since it was July 4th.
Upon our arrival, the restaurant was very crowded but we were
accommodated quickly. Two of us ordered the snapper fillet and it was
delicious. It was so flavorful, topped with sauteed mushrooms, onions,
olives and some other vegetables. It came with plain white rice, (which I
still don't understand but many restaurants here serve it that
way), french fries, fried plantains, and a small green salad. It is
definitely something I would order again. Another ordered the pasta Bolognese, and while not tasting like a true Bolognese, was very good.
Two others ordered the pizza and it was a huge disappointment. While the
sauce and cheese were tasty, the dough/crust was a horror. It tasted
like the kind of pizza dough from a frozen boxed pizza. (And we know
pizza, having our own wood fired pizza oven at home and living in the
NY/NJ area where the pizza is almost as good as the pizza in Italy.)
These pizzas just didn't live up to the reviews we had seen. The
restaurant is worth keeping on our list but we will just stay away from
the pizza

The Tropical Garden Villa is a 3 bedroom, 2 bath home for rent at the Resort at Palmetto Bay. The home sleeps 6, is recently updated, is air conditioned, has a private pool and is only steps from the beach, which is pictured here. The resort has a restaurant, bar, dock, pool and dive shop. It is away from the cruise ship crowds and noise of the west side but being midway on the north shore of the island, it is convenient to all that Roatan has to offer. Can't you just picture yourself here?
